Walt's one-act play Baggage placed third for the Kennedy Center's ACTF 2006 David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award, and his short play The Presence is a finalist for the 2007 Heideman Award at the Actors Theatre of Louisville's National 10-Minute Play Contest. His one-act Fugitive Motel was performed as part of the May 2007 Bailiwick Directors Festival, and his short plays have been workshopped at Second City and Chicago Dramatists. He holds a BA in English and Drama from the University of Virginia, where he co-founded the Lemming Street Players performance ensemble, received the 2006 William Demoville Petway Prize, and won the 2005 and 2006 DeLauney Awards for Excellence in Playwriting. He is a staff member at Chicago Dramatists, where he enjoys aiding in the development of new plays and playwrights, and a member of the Courier Twelve Collective playwrights group.
