It’s an epic collision of Friday the 13th and Valentine’s Day as The Chicago League of Lady Arm Wrestlers‘ (CLLAW) present their first ever mash-up match: CLLAW XXI: My Bloody Valentine on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Logan Square Auditorium, 2539 N. Kedzie Ave. in Chicago. Presented by Sideshow Theatre Company, CLLAW’s 21st bout will feature Chicago’s biggest, baddest, most belligerent lady arm wrestlers decked out in over-the-top outfits with fast-talking managers, ebullient entourages and shady referees. The horrifically romantic evening will include bloody good live musical entertainment from Gay Name and Swimsuit Addition, a kissing booth, the chance to win a five-minute date with one of the wrestlers, a cash bar and much more!
Tickets for CLLAW XXI are $10 or $15 with ten CLLAWBUX (that’s half price!) Doors open at 10 pm with the first match beginning at 10:30 pm. All proceeds from CLLAW XXI will benefit Sideshow Theatre Company and this match’s partner charity, 826CHI.
826CHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. 826CHI’s services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. The organization provides drop-in tutoring, after-school workshops, in-schools tutoring, help for English language learners and assistance with student publications. All of the programs are challenging and enjoyable, and ultimately strengthen each student’s power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently and in his or her individual voice.
With Master of Ceremonies Rokke L. Squelch, and a couple of questionable referees to control them, twelve not-so-lady-like ladies in outrageous costumes volunteer their time to vie for that most cherished prize – the bedazzled CLLAW gloves. Who will leverage their way up the bracket? Or bribe their way to the top? All these questions and more will be answered, and all of Chicago is invited to bear witness.
Not content to leave the fun in the arms of its competitors, CLLAW XX gets everyone in on the action. Audience members have the opportunity to purchase CLLAWBUX, the official currency of CLLAW, throughout the night. With their CLLAWBUX, onlookers can bet on their favorite wrestlers to prevail, and maybe slip a few to the referees to even the score. All CLLAWBUX purchased also go towards fantastic raffle prizes.
