Next, get to work on an audition piece in class with personalized feedback specific to your performance. Watch others being critiqued and learn not only by listening, but by doing! Finally, tackle the challenges of Cold Reading with in-class practice tailored to your needs! Participate in all three sections, or pick and choose based on your strengths and interests.
Each session costs only $30, or you can attend all three parts for only $80!
Audition A La Carte will be held on Saturdays, February 6, 13, 20, 27 from 12–3pm.
Audition A La Carte PART 1 (February 6, 2010): A rousing round-table discussion and Q&A digging deep into what types of audition pieces are best for a variety of situations, from preparing for a graduate school audition, to auditioning for a new work, or a collaborative production. Pick the brain of Richard Warner, professor and Head of Acting at University of Virginia, whose knowledge ranges from graduate school to professional acting.
Audition A La Carte PART 2 (February 13th or 20th, 2010): Participate in one day of dedicated time, focus, analysis, and deconstruction of your monologue of choice with direct feedback from your instructors and your fellow classmates. A dedicated 30 minutes or more will be given to each participant, with the goal of making new discoveries and ultimately improving your audition piece. Also learn from watching your peers craft their monologues, because observation can also reveal new discoveries! Bring in any monologue, preferably memorized!
Audition A La Carte PART 3 (February 27th, 2010): Spend the entire workshop getting on stage and practicing cold readings from a wide range of different sides. Receive feedback, tips and advice on how to best approach cold readings, ranging from famous texts to new, original works. Be prepared to be on your feet yet again!

Get hands-on experience learning how to devise work, starting with exploring solo performance, then branching out with partner and group collaboration.
